Cielo Wildlife Sanctuary & Welcome Center

About the Project

The project's goal is to transform an existing structure on the Cielo Ranch Reserve to serve as an educational center for visitors, and also offer accommodations for volunteers dedicated to our conservation efforts. By integrating a welcome center, the project will also help to raise awareness and inspire conservation action among the broader community.

Goals

• To renovate and equip an existing old house to serve as a welcoming center for day visitors.

• To offer educational programs and interactive experiences for visitors, promoting wildlife conservation awareness.

• To accommodate on-site volunteers and researchers who play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations and the broader volunteer conservation efforts of the reserve.

Impacts

• Directly contributes to the preservation of local wildlife.

• Enhances the educational outreach and conservation advocacy of the Cielo Ranch Reserve.

• Strengthens community engagement and volunteer involvement in wildlife conservation.

• Serves as a model for integrating wildlife with volunteer and visitor engagement in conservation areas.

Project Progress

We are currently working with local architects for a final design for the welcoming center. We have done some initial refurbishing and will continue as funds and volunteer help become available

What we need the funds for:

• Renovation costs to update the structure and ensure it meets the needs of caretakers and volunteers at facility and visitor center.

• Educational materials and displays for the visitor center to engage and inform the public about local wildlife and conservation efforts.

• Living quarters for volunteers, including basic furnishings and amenities to accommodate them comfortably during their stay. This will also include providing a power source (solar, generators, or public utilities).
